Chessconnect for Mephisto Phoenix
Chessconnect is a popular application that connects eBoards to the original interfaces of Chess.com and Lichess.org.
Especially for the Mephisto Phoenix, the application has been converted into an app that allows you to access the interfaces of Chess.com and Lichess.org directly from the Mephisto Phoenix and use them with the chess computer.
Current functions on Chess.com
- Online games against any opponent
- Play against the Chess.com bots
- Participation in tournaments
- Solving puzzles
- Playing with alternative starting line-ups
- The Chess.com analysis board
Current functions on Lichess.org
- Matches against any opponent
- Games against the Lichess engine
- Use of the Chess960 variant
- Participation in tournaments
- Play with any starting line-up
- Use of the chat function, e.g. in tournaments

Recommended area of application
We see the use of Chessconnect above all when the platform's own analyses are to be viewed on the Phoenix directly after the game, and of course for all users who want to use Chess.com for their online game.
The Chess.com bots are also worth a clear recommendation, as is the Chess960 variant on Lichess.
When taking part in tournaments, you can immediately see the rankings on the Phoenix screen.
For users playing the original platforms frequently on the web or their smart devices, there is practically no time needed to get used to the software.

Restrictions on use
Please note that we cannot use the original sounds of the platforms, but use our own sounds in Chessconnect.
Not all platform applications can be run on the chess computer board.
The Chessconnect analysis board uses the engine for the analysis locally. For smooth operation on the Phoenix, we therefore recommend changing the engine to "Stockfish Lite" in the Chess.com settings. Users who have a paid account on chess.com can also use the cloud engine available there.
To play the Chess960 variant on Lichess, castling must currently still be carried out on the Phoenix screen.
Chessconnect does not use the official interfaces of the platform providers for some functions. This increases the range of functions of the platforms with regard to board use. Changes to the platforms may mean that not all functions are permanently available.
Chessconnect on the Phoenix is a software that comes from an external software provider and has been adapted and optimized for use on the Mephisto Phoenix. We are unable to provide a permanent functional guarantee.
Differentiation from the "Play Online" application
The Play Online application on the Mephisto Phoenix is designed to make access to the online game as easy as possible. It only offers functions that are available via the official LiChess interface.
Chessconnect gives you additional options for using the many functions of the original interfaces of both platforms. In addition to the Chess.com connection, with Lichess these are above all the use of the Chess960 game variant and the game with any starting positions. With both platforms, you can view the game analysis directly after the game on the Phoenix screen. /p>

System requirements
- Mephisto Phoenix chess computer module M900
- Your Mephisto Phoenix must have at least software version V4.01A.
- A WIFI connection to be able to download the update to the device

Guide to purchase and installation
- Please make sure that your Phoenix is version V4.01A or higher. If this is not the case, perform an update via SYS SETT / UPDATE and select the latest version via SELECT VERSIO.
- Repeat this process until your system shows at least V4.01A as the current version under SYS SETT / INFO SYSTEM.
- Now you can go through the purchase process in the store. During the purchase process you will be asked to enter both the serial number and a "Check Number", the latter is used to cross-check that you have entered your serial number correctly and that it does not contain any typos.
- You can find the serial number on the nameplate of your Phoenix as well as in the system settings under SYS SETT / INFO SYSTEM. For example, it may read 00101737.
- In the menu of the device itself under SYS SETT / INFO SYSTEM you will find the "Check Number" directly after the serial number. It is for example 1c2g.
- Please enter both numbers during the purchase process, our server will check if the combination is valid and if yes, the update will be released for your Phoenix after the successful purchase.
- After completing the purchase process, please update your Phoenix one more time, followed by Select Version. You may need to be patient for a few minutes until the updates are delivered to your Phoenix.
